How to Become a Home Inspector in Alberta
The province of Alberta is located in western Canada and is one of 13 Canadian provinces and territories.
To the west is Vancouver Island, and to the east are the provinces of British Columbia. Interesting Facts About Alberta:
- Located in North America’s Rocky Mountains, Alberta is a fertile region. Its southern region is primarily covered by low-lying plains that have almost no trees. Many of the province’s lakes and rivers can be used for swimming, fishing, and other water sports. There are 76 provincial parks and five national parks in Alberta.
- At least 10,000 years ago, Native American (First Nations) groups lived in the now known as Alberta. Early European explorers appeared in western North America during the fur trade expansion of the 1750s. When the territory of Alberta merged into the province of Canada in 1905, it was enlarged to its present boundaries.
- Queen Victoria’s fourth daughter, Princess Louise Caroline Alberta (1848–1939), lent her name to Alberta. During the Governor-General of Canada (1878–83), she married John Campbell, Marquess of Lorne. Several mountains in her honor were also named after her, including Mount Alberta and Lake Louise.
- During the summer, the province has a humid continental climate, while winters are cold and wet. Many different species of animals live in Alberta’s four climatic regions: alpine, boreal forest, parkland, and prairie.
